Resort Revelations

Resort Residency allows artists to explore the Donabate Portrane peninsula and its strong community spirit. Resort Revelations then provides a platform to make visible the artists’ output and experience of the area. Resort Residency is a space where artists feel at ease, so the intricacies of their way of seeing reveal a truthful and integral representation of place.

Resort Residency and commissioning programme Resort Revelations began in 2014 with an invitation to a curated selection of artists whose work and artistic practices had resonance with the local, cultural and historical profile of this unique area of North County Dublin – Portrane.

The Residency is hosted by local business Lynders Mobile Home Park which is located on this peninsula and situated between the beautiful Lambay Island and the former psychiatric hospital St. Ita’s. The initial artists explored the potential of what could be created from this opportunity to reside and return and what followed through this model has been quite remarkable.

The relation between what we see and what we know is never settled. Each evening we see the sun set. We know that the earth is turning away from it. Yet the knowledge, the explanation, never quite fits the sight.
